Immunization Guidance Update
Last week, updates were made to the CDC’s childhood immunization schedule, which outlines recommended vaccines from birth through adolescence.
As a public health organization, we align our practices with guidance from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
At Livingston County Health Center, our commitment is simple: to promote and protect the health of the entire community—while serving with excellence, compassion, and professionalism, and ensuring every person feels safe, respected, and welcome.
We understand that updates like these can raise questions. Our approach is to meet those questions with clear, evidence-based information—and with conversations that are respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental.
Here are a few key points about this update:
✔ Access to vaccines and services continues without change
✔ All CDC-recommended childhood vaccines remain available
✔ Insurance coverage has not changed
For some vaccines, updated guidance now includes shared clinical decision-making (SCDM), which simply means families can have individualized conversations with healthcare providers based on their specific circumstances.
Families are free to request and follow the full prior CDC-recommended immunization schedule if that is their preference.
Our team is here to answer questions, offer professional recommendations, and support informed decision-making.
If you’d like to talk things through, please reach out.
We’re here to help.
