HEALTH EDUCATION Health education strives to give each individual the information and skills to live life to the fullest by maintaining good health. By promoting healthy behaviors, health education has the potential to increase the lifespan of individuals and create healthier behaviors among the general population.
The public information/health education department at Livingston County Health Center provides presentations to the public about health center services and health related topics, publishes four health related newsletters , collaborates to provide a bi-monthly “Show Me” Health article in the Constitution-Tribune, records public service announcements for KCHI Radio regarding health issues and coordinates the Community Wellness Committee to organize health promotion efforts to the public.
COMMUNITY WELLNESS COMMITTEE The Community Wellness Committee is a group of individuals dedicated to improving and enhancing the health and wellness of the citizens of Livingston County. This group sees its purpose as identifying gaps in local health care and pursuing options to fill those gaps.
The membership of the Community Wellness Committee includes health care professionals, school staff, law enforcement, mental health professionals, public health workers, emergency service personnel, city and county officials, local business people and private citizens.
The committee is led by Chairperson Ann Hoppe, who serves as Public Information Supervisor at the health center. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 12:00 noon at Hedrick Medical Center in the Conference Room, located in the basement. Lunch is provided for those attending, please RSVP to the health center at 646-5506 if you plan to attend.
PRESENTATIONS LCHC staff make presentations about various health topics or health center services in the schools and community. Employers request health topics, teachers request presentations and area clubs and organizations like to have visits from LCHC staff to discuss what they do.
