TB, Tuberculosis Testing, Livingston County Health Center
TB Testing
Tuberculosis (TB) Testing
Tuberculosis (TB) is a lung disease caused by a tiny germ breathed into the lungs. The only way to contact the disease is by extremely close contact, through the air, with someone who has the disease. Symptoms of TB may include a cough of longer then three weeks, unexplained weight loss, night sweats, chills, fever, and coughing up blood in advanced cases.

The tuberculin skin test is available at the health center to county residents for a fee of $3.00 to cover supplies.  Please bring exact change or write a check, we don't keep cash on hand.

If you have questions about tuberculosis, call your personal physician, the Livingston County Health Center at 646-5506, or the Missouri Department of Health at 1-800-611-2912.

Pregnancy Testing
PREGNANCY TESTING
The health center offers pregnancy testing so mothers can begin to receive health care in the earliest possible stage of pregnancy.

In order to cut down on unnecessary testing, health center nurses have a few requirements before a pregnancy test will be administered:
•You must be a Livingston County resident.
•You must be at least 2 weeks late for your period.
•You must provide first morning urine.
•You must make an appointment with a health center nurse to receive a pregnancy test.

We respect the privacy of individuals who visit the health center and any information we know about a client will not be shared outside of the workplace. If you find out you’re not pregnant, and aren’t ready to be a parent, check out Family Planning services available in our area.

TEMPORARY MEDICAID
While You Wait...
If your pregnancy test is positive and you have no health coverage, you can apply for Temporary Medicaid at the health center offices.

Temporary Medicaid provides ambulatory (walk-in) services directly related to your pregnancy including physician/clinic visits, pharmacy and outpatient services. It does not cover the client if she is no longer pregnant. Delivery, D & C’s, inpatient hospital, dental, optical or any other services are not covered.

Temporary Medicaid provides coverage from the day you sign up until the last day of the following month. If you should qualify for Temporary Medicaid, it should cover you until your application for Regular Medicaid at the Division of Family Services is processed.

To apply for Temporary Medicaid, come to the health center office at 800 Adam Drive, or call 660-646-5506 for more information.

CHILD CARE HEALTH CONSULTATION (CCHC)
In collaboration with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Livingston County Health Center offers child care consultation and training to area child care providers.

Health Center nurses provide consultations regarding child health and safety issues at licensed and license-exempt child care homes, group homes, and centers such as Head Start. We also provide health promotion presentations for children in the facility.

The health center offers six inservices at no out of pocket cost to help child care providers achieve the 12 hours of continuing education credit required for state licensure.
