At Livingston County Health Center, we encourage all new mothers to at least try to breastfeed, and then to continue breastfeeding “one day at a time.”  As with anything, there are challenges.  Breastfeeding takes commitment and the support of family, health care providers, and the community.

At the Health Center, we willingly offer our time, knowledge, and encouragement to any new or expectant mom who needs or requests it.  Don’t hesitate to call us for information or support at 646-5506.

BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP

Also, consider attending our Breastfeeding Support Group that meets the secondTuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m., and bring a friend, or plan to make one. No invitation is necessary, we love having new moms attend! At the meetings, pregnant women or mothers with babies visit with other women who are breastfeeding and exchange information from their experience and provide much needed encouragement.   We hope to see you there!

If you have questions or concerns about breastfeeding please contact our Breastfeeding Consultant Anita Perry or our Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, Rachel Snider and they will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR

The Breastfeeding Peer Counselor at the Livingston County Health Center is Rachel Snider. Rachel is currently a WIC client and has successfully breastfed two older children and is currently a breastfeeding mom.  Rachel will be happy to answer any questions you may have about breastfeeding and discuss any concerns. So if you're currently a breastfeeding mom or soon will be and have any questions feel free to contact her at:  660-247-5653 or by email.

As a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor,  Rachel provides personal support and education to mothers to ensure the best chances of a successful breastfeeding experience.  The position of Breastfeeding Peer Counselor is made available to the health center through a special supplemental grant from the Missouri WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program.   The health center also offers a monthly Breastfeeding Support Group on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30, and a monthly Breastfeeding News publication distributed to breastfeeding and pregnant moms.   Also on staff is another Certified Breastfeeding Educator and RN, Anita Perry, who coordinates the Breastfeeding Support Program.
